screen002Battlefield 2142 is a first person shooter game, similar to Battlefield 2, but with a futuristic twist. Even though it was released in October of 2006, BF: 2142 still has a large active player base. I picked up a copy of the game in 2007 (after playing the demo version daily for a few months) and it is still my favorite game. Despite it’s age, a new map has been promised to come soon (along with game patch 1.51). <!–more–>

The game focuses on squad based combat. You survive longer if you stay together. The game has an unlock and customization system, therefore, each player can take on a unique and important role in combat. Depending on the map, game mode and players, you may find yourself fighting in the air, on foot, or on top of a fully-armored hovering warship.

At the time of posting, the Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition (containing the original game plus the expansion pack) is $19.95 for a digital download in the EA Store. For some strange reason, the original game costs ten dollars more and does not include the expansion pack. This game is worth it’s pricetag plus more.
